This is the part where the names are shown.  Due to the lack of Roman letters in the Japanese language, symbols which represent syllables are used.  This makes exact spelling in English impossible.  Although it is possible to directly translate words from Japanese to English, it wouldn't sound right.  e.g. - Piccolo's Japanese name is written as Pikkoro if directly translated, but if he was called Pikkoro in the U.S., it would sound stupid.  Therefore the people at Funimation must make up a name that reflects how it sounds, hence Pikkoro is changed to Piccolo.  Some names were completely changed, though, like King Kai.  His Japanese name is Kaiosama, but they changed it to King Kai.
